Top 5 Foods You Need To Avoid On Antibiotics!


When you feel sick, the first thing you’re doing is, go to doctor and take the antibiotics they prescribed. Mostly these medicines taken with water because if you consume it with fruit juice or a dairy product it causes some adverse effect on your body. These foods interact with medicines in three different ways

1. It blocks absorption of the drug.
2. It lowers down the rate at which the body absorbs the medicine
3. It interferes with how the body breaks down the medication

To get rid of this problem you need to avoid some foods when you are on antibiotics. Here is the list of foods that you need to avoid during treatment.

1. Alcohol




Do not take alcohol when you are on any medication.  The properties in alcohol will causes harmful effects on your body such as disabling the antibiotics from working wonders. This is one of the most important food you need to avoid on medication. It may effects on antihistamines, antidepressants, sedatives, sleeping pills and some other antibiotics.

2. Acidic Foods



When you are on antibiotic treatment, try to avoid highly acidic foods such as citrus fruits, chocolates, carbonated beverages and tomatoes. The tomato based products like ketchup can interfere with your body’s ability to absorb medicines.

3. Coffee



Strictly avoided the beverages which has caffeine. Because, it behaves like a poison to the body when you are on high medication.

4. Fibre Foods 


Avoid Fibre food also as they contains properties that slow down the rate at which your stomach empties. The antibiotic medication takes its own time to be broken down in the stomach and if you consume.

5. Dairy Products



Stop every dairy product when you are on antibiotics. Milk, cheese and paneer contains a high amount of calcium which blocks the absorption of antibiotics. When calcium interacts with iron supplements and antibiotics such as Cipro and quinolone (Levaquin), it decrease the active compound circulating in your bloodstream.
